A little filler

I’m kind of a horrible student. I’ll procrastinate like everyone else, then I’ll start denying myself all the stuff I can think of that I want to do, textures included, but then I still won’t be any more likely to get the things done. So, unfortunately I don’t have a whole lot to show for the last week or two, but there’s a quickie vertex and a preview below the jump

1) Master Higgins from Adventure Island. I remember this as being one of the first textures we used for Mario back in the early days. But even though I’ve got friends who are fans of the games, the texture’s been removed just because it doesn’t hold up against the current stuff. So on request, I put in a few hours of modern techniques, and the result is this. Some recoloring, mostly I just reshaped the parts that made it way too obvious that he was just Mario + Paint. The overalls, shoes, hat, moustache.

The original texture was made by Dhragen of Stack Smash, who doesn’t appear to be active anywhere, so all due credit to him.


2) The next, more difficult thing that I’ve started working on, is another Street Fighter lacking the vertex they deserve. The vertexing is only about half done, and the recoloring hasn’t started at all, but I might as well throw up a beta pic.

    On an unrelated note, (not sure where else to ask) I can’t figure out how to sign these posts, as I don’t seem to have a box in the category checklist, and don’t know how to add one.

    Texturing has been pretty much dead for the second half of this quarter. I seriously overscheduled myself, and am failing most of the courses. But I’ll tell you that I’m VERY much looking forward to six weeks of winter break starting next week.

    And the first release should be a double. At one point (well, pretty much the ONLY point I’ve found time for this), working on Zangief, I realized: “you know, it would be a lot faster/easier to turn all this into this other character instead, and a few hours later I had a working texture for him, that I could then use as a stepping stone back up to Gief.
